A Childhood Experience That Shaped Her Future
Brownlee’s understanding of reconstructive surgery is personal.
According to her professional biography, she was involved in an accident during infancy that altered her facial features. Throughout childhood, she underwent multiple corrective procedures.

Originally from Michigan, Brownlee attended Michigan State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree summa cum laude.
Her academic accomplishments were accompanied by an early interest in leadership. She was consistently recognized on the Dean’s Honor List and was elected to the university’s homecoming court.
She later attended the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) at Seton Hill, earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2013.
During medical school, Brownlee was not content with simply completing her education. She served as president of her medical school class, founded the school’s surgery club, and participated in leadership through the Student Osteopathic Surgical Association.
She was part of LECOM at Seton Hill’s inaugural graduating class—an experience that required students to help establish a new medical-school community while simultaneously navigating the demanding requirements of medical education.
Years of Surgical Training
Becoming a plastic surgeon requires considerably more than earning a medical degree, and Brownlee’s training continued for years after medical school.
She completed a five-year General Surgery residency at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, developing the broad surgical foundation necessary for increasingly specialized work.
Her journey then took her to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she completed training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
There, her experience extended beyond elective cosmetic procedures. Her surgical education included areas such as breast and body surgery, facial surgery, craniofacial procedures, traumatic and cancer reconstruction, microsurgery, and hand surgery.
Brownlee subsequently pursued additional advanced training through an aesthetic plastic surgery fellowship in the Dallas area.
It was a lengthy journey—from university classrooms and medical-school examinations to residency, reconstructive surgery training, fellowship, and eventually independent practice.
Each stage represented another step toward the career she had spent years preparing to build.

Brownlee ultimately achieved one of the most important professional milestones of her career: becoming double board-certified.
She holds certification from both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery.
She is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Her professional development has also included academic research. Brownlee has contributed to published surgical research, including work examining techniques and outcomes in breast reduction surgery.
These credentials reflect the medical foundation behind the increasingly recognizable “Dr. Bombshell” brand.
From Surgeon to Entrepreneur
After completing her advanced training, Brownlee practiced plastic surgery in Louisiana before eventually returning to the Dallas area.
But another challenge was waiting.
Being a highly trained surgeon and building a medical business require two very different skill sets.
Creating an independent practice means thinking beyond the operating room—about patient experience, staff, business operations, branding, communication, marketing, reputation, and long-term growth.
Brownlee embraced that transition.
