Discover Sacai’s Foodie-Focused Pop-up at Le Bon Marché Paris

BIG ON JAPAN: Fashion loves food — including Sacai‘s Chitose Abe, who is bringing matcha, bento boxes, kissaten-inspired sandwiches and Japanese sweet treats to Le Bon Marché in Paris.

The “Sacai to Go” pop-up, on now until Oct. 11 as part of the department store’s broader “Super Japon” promotion, is located on the third floor of the department store with a goal of “celebrating Japanese culture from multiple perspectives.”

Sarah Andelman, founder of consulting agency Just an Idea, curated the assortments, bringing together “a community of longtime friends of Sacai,” according to a release.

Among the food and beverage vendors are Toraya, a traditional Japanese confectionery house dating back to the 16th century; Rocky’s Matcha, founded by Rocky Xu; natural wine bar and ice cream shop F.O.L.D.E.R.O.L; bento brand Iné, and Japanese kissaten-inspired sandwich and coffee shop Benchy.

Fashion merchandise will be on the menu also, including logo T-shirts with MA-1-inspired details, and items from the latest Sacai x Carhartt WIP collaboration.

Exclusive items include tote bags crafted from repurposed archive fabrics, plush key charms created in collaboration with art brand Peloqoon, and a boxed set of paper dolls wearing miniature recreations of archival Sacai looks that can be mixed and matched with magnetic fasteners.

Le Bon Marché is also featuring stationery, souvenirs, kawaii items, fashions and avant-garde Japanese skin care alongside a hand-roll bar and other attractions.

Parisians have a longstanding love affair with Japanese cuisine and culture, and the French capital has lately welcome several large-scale pop-ups showcasing local brands.
