TWP Adds a Dash of Americana to London With a New Store in Mayfair

MAYFAIR LADIES: TWP has opened its first store outside the U.S., at 28 Bruton Street in London’s Mayfair. The store spans 4,521 square feet, and brings British and American cultures together.

The brand’s founder Trish Wescoat Pound and her team have left the original paneled walls intact, and added wall-to-wall sea grass flooring, a TWP signature that also features in the Madison Avenue store in New York.

Vintage finds, including an antique Swedish farm table, sit alongside custom bronze racks, while a swath of grass has been installed along the length of the shopfront window, nodding to the prairies of Wescoat Pound’s native Midwest.

The furniture is by the English designer, and fashion world favorite, Rose Uniacke, with walls covered in Edward Bulmer Natural paint.

The London store is TWP’s 11th unit, and Wescoat Pound said it was the right time to start rolling out internationally. “Starting in London made complete sense to us. It’s one of the most international cities in the world, so we’re able to connect with people from all over, not just one market. It’s a real ‘pinch me’ moment opening in the heart of Mayfair,” she said.

Art plays a central role, similar to the other TWP stores. The brand has partnered with Onna House, which champions female artists, and filled the Bruton Street store with Lattice Orb and Vessels by the stylist and sculptor Deborah Brett.

“Wall of Fragments,” an installation of glazed broken ceramics by Jaclyn Mednicov, sits at the entrance to the space. In the fitting rooms, there are two further works by Mednicov, called “Meadow” and “Garden.”

Every piece on display is available to buy.

Wescoat Pound marked the opening with a cocktail at the store followed by a dinner at Bar Finch that was cohosted by TWP investor Andrew Rosen, India Hicks and Alex Eagle. Guests included brand founders Chrissie Rucker, Melissa Odabash, and Wiggy Hindmarch and the writer Plum Sykes.

The opening comes two years after Wescoat Pound and Rosen celebrated the brand’s arrival at the Selfridges flagship on London’s Oxford Street.
