Juice is easily one of my favorite drinks — whether it’s pineapple, orange, cranberry, apple, or even green (Martha Stewart, naturally, has a refreshing recipe). I’ve always loved the idea of having a juicer to make them at home. What stops me every time is the price (this best-selling juicer on Amazon typically goes for $325) and the bulkiness (my limited counter space is largely dedicated to my Keurig, espresso machine, and air fryer toaster oven).
What You Should Know About the Gvode Masticating Juicer KitchenAid Stand Mixer Attachment
Gvode specializes in attachments for your KitchenAid stand mixer, like pasta makers, spiral dough hooks, pouring shields, and, of course, this masticating juicer. This juicer easily screws onto the front of the stand mixer and is powered by the appliance. It contains two chutes — 1.5 inches and 2 inches wide — on the top for fitting different-sized fruits and vegetables. It also comes with a “food pusher” (to guide fruit and vegetables through the juicer) and two cups (for catching the juice and the pulp).
The juicer attachment is hand-wash only, though I did clean the cups in the dishwasher and they were totally fine. Everything else took about 15 minutes or so to clean, which was much more seamless than I originally expected. I’m not the only one, either: One Amazon reviewer called it “the best juicer” in part because of the “easy cleanup,” adding it isn’t “like traditional juicers that have tons of parts to clean.” Better yet, it’s currently on sale at Amazon for $39.
My Honest Review of the Gvode Masticating Juicer KitchenAid Stand Mixer Attachment
Initially, I thought it might be tricky to use or clean this juicer, but it wasn’t. Attaching it to my KitchenAid stand mixer couldn’t have been simpler, and then I just plugged my stand mixer in and flipped it to the right speed setting. (The instructions say to set the stand mixer to the four speed, which worked well.) After that, the spiral auger started turning, and I could place fruit down the chute.
I decided to start simple with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. The attachment easily worked through the oranges, producing the tastiest, freshest OJ I’ve ever had. (It was seriously 100x better than even the best store-bought stuff.)
From there, I was feeling confident, so I moved onto pineapple juice — my personal fave. I used precut pineapple chunks from the produce aisle. I might’ve gotten a little carried away and loaded too many chunks into the juicer at once because some of the pulp got stuck in the attachment. That said, it was easy to take apart to clean. I was back up and juicing in next to no time.
For my last test and, in my opinion, the most challenging, I made a green juice with celery, cucumbers, kale, apple slices, and a couple of lemon slices. The celery and kale are on the drier side as far as produce goes, so I was wondering how the attachment would fare. It seamlessly juiced them up, and at the end I had a fresh, tasty green juice on par with ones I’ve had at nice brunches. On my next go-round, I will be adding fresh ginger for a little zing.
