This September, the British Fashion Council will introduce a new national initiative designed to expand the UK fashion industry beyond the capital. Called Fashion Britain, the programme will roll out across key cultural hubs, including Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol, Edinburgh and London, and will include public events and retail experiences curated for each location. The aim is to help distribute the sector’s commercial benefits more evenly nationwide, and develop the next generation of fashion talent in order to “create lasting pathways for designers and creatives to build sustainable careers within their own cities,” the BFC said in a press release.
