Anthology of Style Hosts Gala at The Frick Collection

Over the weekend, Kimberly Alpert, founder and chief executive officer of Anthology of Style, the New York City-based social-commerce company and content platform, celebrated her company and community with fashion events across New York City.

The company was founded in 2021, and since then has expanded with its own “mini museum,” in Dumbo in 2024. Within her space, Alpert told WWD, she has curated exhibitions for clients to visit and shop from, alongside her live vintage resale shopping videos she hosts biweekly on Instagram, occurring Tuesday afternoon and evening and Thursday evening. While Alpert mainly focuses on reselling, informing her client base with the history of and curating her museum with vintage Chanel handbags, clothing and jewelry, she also offers select ready-to-wear and accessories from the likes of Balenciaga, Miu Miu, Celine, Prada and more.

“This is the first year we’re taking that outside of our personal space. This is a celebration with our community in a space that we aspire to emulate someday,” Alpert said of her company’s programming of fashion-filled activities, which kicked off with an Anthology of Style Gala at The Frick Collection on Friday night. At the gala, guests were invited to enjoy floral cocktails, view mannequins styled in Alpert’s curated Chanel jackets among the museum’s artworks, take photographs within the galleries (many guests were clad in their own Chanel pieces), and enjoy a seated dinner while Alpert shared remarks and special memories about each guest in the room.

“We’re hoping the Frick feels like a gift to all of our clients. After we spoil them rotten and fill their bellies, then they get to go home and sleep. Then, there will be private shopping appointments and museum viewing appointments on Saturday and Sunday at our space,” she explained of offering clients private group appointments to shop within her curated Brooklyn mini museum throughout the weekend.

“We’ll have our museum set up with our new curation and many of the pieces they’ll actually be able to buy off the mannequins. This is how we afford to build our own collections. I curate between 70 to 90 pieces, and sell most of them — only keeping around 10 to 15. Proceeds from the sales let us keep those extras,” she said. The assortment included pieces mainly from the ’80s and ’90s, with select styles from the 2000s, including an early ’80s Chanel butterfly brooch in pink and green, made of hand-poured glass.

“I think one of the things that differentiates us is we’re just really interested in pieces like a story, or pieces that are harder to come by. I’m brought back to the Fragonard [Gallery at the Frick Collective] — the story behind that art. I’m not an art history buff, but the paint strokes and the oil type that makes it so special. The story behind it is what made me fall in love with it, and I feel like it’s the same thing with really special pieces of couture or jewelry, where you just want to learn everything about it,” she said of her approach to curating her vintage assortment.
