Charlize Theron, John Carpenter and Colman Domingo will be honored at the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala, which will take place Oct. 17 in Los Angeles.
Theron will receive the Icon Award, recognizing an artist whose career has had a significant global impact, while Carpenter will be presented with the Luminary Award for his contributions to filmmaking. Domingo will receive the Vantage Award, honoring an artist helping to challenge dominant narratives around cinema.
Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw will serve as co-chairs of the 2026 gala, which is presented by Rolex, a founding supporter of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
The annual fundraiser supports the museum’s exhibitions, screenings, educational programs and other initiatives. This year’s honorees will also participate in public programming surrounding the event. Theron is set to join the museum’s Teen Council for a conversation and screening of “Mad Max: Fury Road” on Aug. 22, while Carpenter will host three nights of screenings of his films beginning Sept. 26 in conjunction with the museum’s new exhibition, “The Horror Show.”
The newly announced host committee includes Jessica Alba, Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann, Adrien Brody and Georgina Chapman, Jon M. Chu, Kirsten Dunst, Nicholas Galitzine, Regina Hall, Kate Hudson, Greta Lee, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, Rami Malek, Demi Moore, Olivia Munn, Questlove, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen and Teyana Taylor, among others.
Last year’s gala honored Penélope Cruz, Walter Salles, Bruce Springsteen and Bowen Yang.
