Princess Olympia of Greece’s DL1961 Capsule Debuts at Moda Operandi

On Thursday, Moda Operandi is releasing the first exclusive capsule designed by Princess Olympia of Greece in partnership with DL1961. Moda Operandi tapped Olympia as its contributing editor back in February 2025.

The nine-piece collection includes pieces ranging from $279 to $999, and was designed to reflect Olympia’s personal wardrobe and point of view, rooted in elevated denim and everyday wardrobing with nods to classic Americana meets English countryside and ’90s off-duty style. Other than Moda Operandi, the line is available to purchase on DL1961’s e-commerce site.

“I kept coming back to ’90s supermodel airport looks. I love that effortless, slightly undone way of dressing from that era, where everything felt comfortable and thrown together but still incredibly chic. Think oversized jackets, plaid shirts, double denim and pieces that feel borrowed from the boys. That effortless balance was a huge reference throughout the collaboration,” Olympia told WWD of the capsule.

She noted working with DL1961 “was incredible,” as not only had she worn the denim company’s styles, both professionally and personally for years, but also that she and the brand shared similar references for the looks. From there, Olympia noted she looked to her own wardrobe, including pieces she’d borrowed from her brothers’ and father’s wardrobe over the years and styled to make them her own.

April Hennig, president of Moda Operandi, told WWD the company has seen a strong demand for their exclusive capsules, which they are dropping roughly once a month.

“We’re increasingly looking at them through the lens of how our client is actually dressing at a particular moment,” she said, noting a denim collaboration felt very relevant for the time of year.

“We see our client begin to shop the category leading into Labor Day, when she’s thinking about returning to the city and transitioning her wardrobe into fall,” Hennig said. “Olympia was the perfect person to bring that idea to life. Our clients love following what she wears on vacation, but we also wanted to show another side of her style: what she wears when she’s back in the city and getting back into her everyday life. DL1961 brought the design flexibility and creative partnership to translate that vision into a really focused, wearable capsule.”

As seen in the campaign, photographed by Grayson Vaughan in Central Park, the styles encapsulate Olympia’s day-to-day wardrobing, moving between weekends in the countryside and days in Manhattan’s streets.

The line includes three denim hero styles across two fits including the Olympia Slim Straight Mid-Rise jean, available in royal and greece hued-washes; the Cate Classic Straight High-Rise jean in a drama-colored wash, and the Addison Denim shirt in royal. It also includes everyday layering styles spanning from a relaxed V-neck sweater and cropped burgundy barn jacket with leather collar to a brown suede jacket with coordinating micro shorts and oversized shirting.

Hennig and Olympia called out the Olympia jean as an expected volume driver and key style, respectively, as it was developed exclusively for Olympia and was inspired by one of her favorite vintage Levi’s styles. Olympia noted she opts to pair the jean with the denim shirt, “worn oversized like I’ve stolen it from an ex-boyfriend or one of my brothers,” she said. “I live for double denim, so wearing the two together is probably my favorite look from the collection. I’ll wear it with either a ballet flat or a kitten heel, depending on the mood.”

To celebrate the exclusive capsule, Moda Operandi and DL1961 have partnered with the popular PopUp Bagels on a limited-time activation inspired by Olympia’s Greek heritage. From Thursday to Sunday, or while supplies last, the bagel company will debut a limited-edition O.G. Greek Honey Schmear at all of its Hamptons and New York City locations. Furthermore, DL1961 will take over the eatery’s TriBeCa and Greenwich Village locations throughout launch weekend and the shops will feature custom QR codes linking directly to the launch on Moda Operandi.

Looking to the future, Hennig said Moda Operandi plans for Olympia to do more collaborations.

“What’s exciting about having Olympia as a contributing editor is that the relationship can extend well beyond a single capsule. She has such a distinct point of view, but also a real versatility in the way she dresses — from vacation to everyday city life to evening — which gives us a lot to explore together,” Hennig said, noting the company is already thinking about what the next chapter looks like later this year. “I can’t share too much yet, but as we head into the holiday season, you may see a very different side of Olympia… one that involves getting dressed for a night out.”
